Abstract

This panel presentation and following discussion will create space for faculty and staff to learn from a diverse group of students directly about how classroom and campus practices impact their inclusion in our community generally, and in our classes specifically. The panel will include undergraduate students, Threshold program students, students with disabilities, students of color, and students who identify as LGBTQ or I; adult learners and graduate students will also be recruited to participate in the panel. Our goals are to:

A) Create space for diverse perspectives and experiences to be heard

B) Learn from students about experiences that facilitated their inclusion in learning environments as well as barriers they have experienced.

C) Provide faculty and staff with concrete strategies for creating learning opportunities and campus events that are inclusive of all community members

Panel will be moderated by Cara Gorham Streit, Associate Director and Director of Academics, Innovation, and Inclusion for Threshold and by Janet Sauer Associate Professor in CLAS (tentative).
